I would like to coach basketball, how can I get involved?
Most clubs are constantly in need of coaching help, so the first step would be to contact clubs in your area to see if they are looking for people to help out with coaching. Basketball Ireland's Code of Ethics 1999 states that all coaches should hold a recognised qualification from Basketball Ireland. This is in recognition of the unique role coaches play in the development of children and in keeping with the Code of Ethics and Good Practice for Children In Ireland (June 1996, Dept. Of Education).

What height should a basketball ring be?
The correct height for a basketball ring from the ground is 10ft for age 12 and upwards and 8.5ft for under 12's.
NB! The measurement is for the ring - not the net.

What are are the dimensions of a basketball court?
The FIBA regulations state that a basketball court dimensions should be 28m in length x 15m in width. Local federations have the authority to approve courts with dimensions which all within the following limits: Minimum 4 m on length and 2m in width.
NB! There should be no obstacles within 2 metres of the perimeter of the court and the ceiling should be no lower than 7 metres.

Where can I buy basketballs?
Basketball Ireland has an online shop and basketballs are available directly from the organisation, www.basketballireland.ie/store
